Parshuram Upazila (feni district) with an area of 196.61 sq km, is bounded by Indian State of Tripura on the north, east and west, chhagalnaiya and feni sadar upazilas on the south. Noted rivers are feni and Muhuri.

Parshuram (Town) consists of two mouzas. It has an area of 9.74 sq km. The town has a population of 11765; male 53.19% and female 46.81%; population density per sq km 1207. Literacy rate among the town people is 49.3%. The town has two dakbungalows and one BDR outpost.

Administration Parshuram thana was turned into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of 10 union parishads, 157 mouzas and 162 villages.

Archaeological heritage and relics Dighi excavated by Shamser Gazi at village Satkuchia.

Historical events During the Second World War a runway was built in order to land aircraft of the allied forces. During the War of Liberation in 1971, a battle between the Pak army and the freedom fighters took place at Belonia border in which many Pakistan soldiers were killed.

Religious institutions Mosque 510, tomb 5 and temple 5.

Population l 176731; male 50.25%, female 49.75%; Muslim 92.74%, Hindu 7.20% and others 0.06%; ethnic nationals: few Magh and Chakma families.

Literacy and educational institutions Average literacy 42.7%; male 49% and female 36.4%. Educational institutions: college 3, high school 31, high school and college 2, primary school 120, madrasa 19 and technical institution 1; noted educational institution: Khondol Multilateral High School and College (1934).

Cultural organisations Public library 2, club 15, cinema hall 1 and literary society 1.

Main occupations Agriculture 51.72%, commerce 8.12%, agricultural labourer 12.12%, wage labourer 2.18%, service 13.89% and others 11.97%.

Land use Total cultivable land 12881 hectares, fallow land 2881 hectares; single crop 21%, double crop 73% and treble crop land 6%. Cultivable land under irrigation 70%.

Land control Among the peasants 29.03% are landless, 49.03% small, 20.39% intermediate and 1.55% rich; cultivable land per head 0.11 hectare.

Value of land The market value of the land of the first grade is approximately Tk 6500 per 0.01 hectare.

Main crops Paddy, sugarcane.

Main fruits Mango, jackfruit, coconut, black berry, pineapple.

Fisheries, dairies, poultries Fishery 1 and poultry 5.

Communication facilities Roads: pucca 53 km, semi pucca 12 km and mud road 355 km; railway 20 km.

Traditional transport palanquin (extinct), bullock cart (nearly extinct), boat.

Cottage industries Goldsmith 72, potteries 40, wood work 250, bamboo work 200.

Hats, bazars and fairs Hats and bazars is 15, most noted of which are Parshurar, Shuvar Bazar, Bakta Mahmud Hat, Munsir Hat; fairs 2 (Dailbari Mela and Baicchar Bat Tala Mela).

Main exports Paddy.
